Instructions can be found on the Oh So Hero! itch.io page, which also has download links for the latest public build. If you're a patron, you can get access to even newer builds with more exclusive content.
Further information can be found on the Installation and Uninstallation Guide.
If you're installing or unpacking Windows versions, make sure to pick the default install location or one with a path that Unity can understand. Avoid having special symbols, foreign characters, umlauts (e.g. ÄÅÖ) in folder names. Else the game might not launch.
if you bought the game through Steam, the most appropriate version will be selected for you when you choose to install the game.
If you chose to purchase through itch.io or a supporting site like Patreon, you'll be given many files you can download, the name of the files follows the following format: oh-so-hero-[version number]-[platform].[extension].
You may choose whichever version number you prefer, check the changelog to see the changes present between version, ideally, you should play with the latest version. Every version shares the same route for save data so you shouldn't worry about it when upgrading, but some versions might have issues downgrading.
If you're using a Windows computer, you should choose a file where the platform is either win64 or win32, between these, you should prefer the 64-bit version as this is better optimized to use the power of your CPU, only choose the 32-bit version if your CPU isn't compatible with these optimizations, this may be the case with older and lower-end CPUs. On top of these versions, you'll find win64-setup and win32-setup files, these files are installer versions of the game, these place the files in the Program Files (x86) folder which may be more comfortable for users.
If you're using a Mac computer, you should choose a file where the platform is either macintel or macsilicon depending on the model and processor that your device is using.
If you're using a Linux computer, you should choose a file where the platform is linux.
If you're using a smartphone running Android, you should choose a file where the platform is either android or android-arm64 depending on the processor in your device.
For further information on how to install the file you've downloaded, see the Installation page.
Before reporting a bug, please read the rest of this page to see if anything fixes your problem. If that doesn't help, you have a few options:
1. You may report a bug directly on our Oh So Hero! public issue tracker on GitHub.
2. If you're a patron, you may post in the #osh-bugs channel on the Full Frontal Frog Discord server or direct message us on Patreon.
3. You may also contact our Community Manager directly.
Whichever option you choose, please provide detailed information about your issue. Make sure to include an error log as well. Cheers! Ribbit~
This error happens when you're trying to run the 64-bit version in a device with a CPU that doesn't support the optimizations that the architecture brings. If this is the case, you should uninstall this version and try again with files that have the win32 version.
If that still doesn't work, you may contact us.
On macOS Tahoe (v26) or later, you must visit System Settings > Privacy & Security. Scroll to the bottom, where you should find an “Open Anyway” option for “OhSoHero.app”. Clicking this, selecting “Open Anyway”, and entering admin credentials will allow the app to launch.
This is because the app is not signed and notarized by Apple (this is just Apple saying “this app contains no malware”, which is true in any case). The signing process requires a paid Apple Developer subscription that's currently outside our budget. Nevertheless, we will look into doing this in a future update in order to provide a simpler experience for players.
On Windows, you can reset all of your options by running a simple command on the command line:
REG DELETE “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Full Frontal Frog\Oh So Hero!” /f
This will not affect your save data or gallery data.
Alternatively, you can download this batch file, then double-click it to run it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/k73lqbotqmms14e/OSH%20Reset%20Options.bat?dl=0
If you had issues with the game or your subscription that you need our help with, you may follow the instructions in the Refunds page.
