====== Gatis ======

**Gatis** (//[[pronunciation|GAH-tiss]]//) is the seventh enemy type encountered in //Oh So Hero!//

===== Appearance =====

Gatis are a muscular alligators who wear only a loincloth to hide their thick penises, though they're a similar boat as Amaru since it is ambiguous whether said penises are external or internal due to being humanoid in shape yet not forming any obvious bulges as their sizes might suggest. Aside from their loincloth, Gatises also have some ruff-like accessory around their necks.

They have dark green scales, small yellow eyes and a big, thick tail that is their main way of attacking. 

===== Locations =====

Gatis can be encountered in the [[locations#Forbidden Bayou]], they share this location with the [[odeere|O'Deere]]. Both enemies appear in the Game Over screen for that location as well.

===== Attacks =====

They can prove to be dangerous enemies if not dealt with immediately; with a good range on both their melee attack (a mid-ranged tail slap) and grapple (a simple chomp), they can prove to be difficult up close, but their biggest danger is their ranged lust attack, the lust attack's range is about the same as Joe's.

The Gatis' lust attack is telegraphed by a crotch grab and a finger crooked into a “come hither” gesture as the reptile licks his lips seductively. However, while this move is instant, Gatises will pause briefly when you get out of their melee range to perform it and the range it effects is visible on screen (after the update described below anyways), allowing players to avoid it with a bit of effort.

===== Updates =====

With [[changelog_v0.14#Oh So Hero! v0.14.104|version 14.104]], the Gatis's Lust attack gained more pronounced visuals.

With [[changelog_v0.18#Oh So Hero! v0.18.300|version 18.300]], Gatis's tease attack started dealing an immediate 20% damage if the player entered it's hitbox instead of it's previous behavior of a flat 20% lust increase.

With [[changelog_v0.18#Oh So Hero! v0.18.400|version 18.400]], Gatis gained 2 [[multigrab|multigrabs]]. One is initiated alongside another Gatis and the other is initiated alongside [[O'Deere]].

With [[changelog_v0.18#Oh So Hero! v0.18.500|version 18.500]], the properties of Gatis's seductive taunt have been altered. Instead of inflicting a flat 20% damage, the attack deals continuous damage per second as long as Joe is in range during the animation. 

===== Trivia =====

  * Gatis is a masculine Latvian name. Varying sources postulate that the name is derived from the Latvian word for “ready” or “mature”, which may be a reference to Gatis' matured body and endowment. Other sources claim that it means “gate” or “river source”, which may be a reference to Gatis' placement in the Forbidden Bayou that makes him look almost like a gatekeeper.
  * Gatis was the very first enemy to have a seductive taunt in the game.
