====== Gameplay ====== New to //Oh So Hero!//? Want to gain some more knowledge on how to play? You’re in the right place. //Oh So Hero!// is a platformer, metroidvania action game starring Joe the dragon, the character you control. Throughout the game, you’ll navigate environments and best your enemies in either strength //or stamina//, to gather the Five emeralds of power in the Gerrabacco Tournament. You may check out the controls to do so in its dedicated page. This page will give you a rundown on what you’ll encounter, what you can use, what your obstacles are and how you can overcome them. //Disclaimer: The information described here is provided by gamers and not a member of the development team, so certain information may be speculative, missing, or even incorrect.// ===== The world ===== ==== Joe ==== Joe is the main character of //Oh So Hero!// and the character you control throughout your misadventures in Planet Aeter. Joe starts with the basic abilities to move, jump, attack and do a special attack in the form of the Crescent Moon. He gains additional skills as you collect items and progress the story. ==== Spectators ==== Spectators are non-playable characters found everywhere throughout the game and are friendly towards the player since they’re not participating in the Gerrabacco Tournament. You can interact with them with your **Up** input and they’ll offer up a quick chat, information on enemies and objectives, or even give you an item. Most importantly, these friendly characters are also open to //having a little fun// with you... After some dialogue, a character may become available for //playtime//, and the player can press the **Sex** button to engage with them, unlocking their scenes in the Gallery. Though, some characters may have special prerequisites and quests before they agree to get down. ==== Enemies ==== Enemies are other contestants participating in the Gerrabacco Tournament, meaning they are hostile toward the player and will seek to attack //or charm// the player into submission. These characters appear in many spots throughout the game but each type of enemy is restricted to a certain location. The player can use the **Attack** button to do a three-punch combo to deplete the enemy’s health and defeat them. This three-punch combo ends with an attack that knocks enemies down, at this point, the player may approach them and press the **Sex** button to //subdue them in a different way//, taking care of them by tiring them out instead. If the player prefers a more //friendly// approach, they can also **hold Down and press the Attack** button to Pose Sexy, inflicting //lust// on the enemies within range. Once an enemy becomes fully Lustful, they will succumb to their needs and will need to //relieve// themselves on the spot, the player can watch them do so, or approach them and press the **Sex** button to //help// them. Enemies also have their own Lust attacks however, and can inflict the same lust damage against the player for the same effect, the enemies will gladly return the favor. The different ways to defeat or be attacked by enemies are scenes that will be unlocked in the gallery after seeing them naturally during gameplay. === Multigrabs === Multigrabs are combinations of enemies that can join up and engage the player simultaneously, this happens when an enemy has grabbed Joe and a compatible enemy joins them while they have sex, playing an additional animation where both characters are having their way with the player. These are separate scenes available in the gallery as well. For a full list of compatible enemies, see Multigrabs. === Awakenings === Awakenings are additional enemy states where they’ll change their moveset to adapt to the tense situation, enemies may enter this state when a specific stat (depending on the enemy) falls below a certain threshold. As of Act 1, the only enemies that enter this state are Haya and Bax, as well as the boss Bates by way of multiple phases. === Game Over === When you run out of HP, Joe will drop to his knees and fall to the ground in defeat. In this state, any enemy may approach and take advantage of him, triggering their **Primary sex, Enemy initiated** scene without the player being able to escape or speed it up with the #rhythm meter. Joe will remain in this defeated state until the player presses the **confirmation** button to continue. The Game Over screen features a unique animation for each location, featuring a short animation with the enemies present in the location having sex with Joe. Watching this animation for the first time will unlock it in the Gallery. Given each location with enemies has a different animation, the player will need to lose all their HP in all of the following locations to complete the given section in the Gallery. These are: * Sheo Islands Beach * Treewish Forest * Southeast Beach * Brask’s Jungle * Forbidden Bayou * Hiroto Dojo * Lood City West Ave. There are also special animations for losing all your HP to Bates, though, these are also unlocked automatically after defeating him. ==== Entrances ==== Entrances, also referred to simply as Doors, are defined as blue glowing spots in the world. They appear in front of doorways or at the end locations, the player can stand over these and press the **Up** input to travel to the different location that corresponds to the entrance. Stepping on an entrance Saves the game, and going through it will put up a loading screen before taking you to the desired location. ==== Teleporters ==== Teleporters are purple and red glowing spots found at the beginning of set locations throughout the game, these unlock when the player first visits their given location and allows the player to fast-travel between them. These shortcuts are free to use at any time, so they can allow the player to get around the world quickly and visit their favorite locations or get back to a spot where they missed an item or enemy animation. The following locations have teleporters: * Sheo Islands Beach * Southeast Beach * Brask’s Palace * Dojo Secret Basement * Lood City West Ave. ==== Gauntlets ==== Gauntlets are set locations within a map where enemies will come out of portals and ambush the player, arriving in waves to defeat the player. When this happens, the screen is locked and the player won’t be able to leave the gauntlet until all enemies are defeated. When entering a Gauntlet, portals will spawn that enemies will come out from, a portal may only let out one enemy at a time and another one will only come out after the previous one is defeated, it will do this until its set list of enemies to spawn has been exhausted. Any enemies that aren’t part of the gauntlet will despawn when it starts and a jingle will play when the last enemy is defeated and the player can continue exploring. This is usually a great opportunity to get some Multigrabs given the variety of enemies that come out, though it can be dangerous to have that many enemies around you, draining your HP through both combat and sex. To get through the Gauntlet, it is a good idea to use both Charm and Might in these fights, as using **Pose Sexy** to //distract// one of the enemies will allow you to place your full attention on the other enemy. Once a gauntlet is completed, it won’t ever trigger again in the same savefile, allowing the player to traverse the location again unbothered. ==== Life Spring Aura ==== In special locations, the player may stumble across a mystical ring with green and blue colors, passing through this ring will completely replenish your #Health and #Skill points. These are scarce throughout the game, but the player can always come back to them and use them as many times as they need to. ==== Stores ==== In Act 1, the player is able to spend their Zennies at Korko’s shop in Smol Beach. Talking to Korko will open a small menu that allows the player to purchase two items or flirt with the bartender, unlocking an //interaction// with him. The only two items available for purchase are two consumables: The Spring Water and the Fruit Soda. ===== HUD ===== ==== Player status ==== Joe’s status is displayed at all times in the top-left corner of the screen, the two bars represent his Health Points (HP) and Skill Points (SP) respectively, and above them, his Lust meter is displayed as a percentage. It is very important to keep an eye on these values at all times throughout your adventure. Next to these is an icon of Joe’s face, mostly there for aesthetics, but if the player is using Touch controls, such as those in the Android version, tapping on it will bring up the Pause Menu. The green bar represents his #Health and below it is a blue bar that represents his #Skill Points, above both presented as a text percentage is his Lust meter. These are updated in real time as Joe is damaged, teased, healed and relieved. These values can also be consulted in the #Pause screen. ==== Mini-Map ==== Always present on the top right of your screen after acquiring the Auto-map, the mini-map helps you navigate the current location. As you traverse the location, it’ll turn blue squares into pink as you explore to indicate which areas you’ve been to and which ones you haven’t, it’s useful when you are coming back to a location that you know has an item you’re missing, as seeing there’s an uncharted spot will help you know that it may be hidden there. You may also pause the game and select **Map**, or use the appropriate shortcut button, to open a full-screen view of it. If using Touch Controls, like in the Android version of the game, the player can also bring up this screen by tapping on the Mini-map. ==== Information tabs ==== Appearing and disappearing quickly when they’re relevant, information tabs will appear at the bottom left or right of your screen to tell you about certain things, usually the names of the enemies you’re fighting, the name of the location you just entered and what music is playing on it Enemy names will appear on the lower right side of your screen after you attack an enemy. On the lower left side, tabs will appear displaying information about the current location and any pickups you come across as well as their effects. ==== Zennies ==== Zennies are the currency of //Oh So Hero!// and you’ll gain them as you come across Gold coins that are automatically converted to one Zenni each. A small text legend will appear at the bottom right of your screen when you collect any Gold coins to indicate how many Zennies you have. You may spend these at Korko’s shop. ==== Buffs ==== Next to your #mini-map will be an icon displaying your current buff and how long it will remain active. It’s self-contained in a small rectangle that appears only when the buff is active, disappearing when it runs out. As of Act 1, there is only one buff the player can acquire by drinking a Fruit Soda. ==== Save icon ==== Saving the game happens automatically upon stepping on an #entrance, or after the loading screen that took you to it. You'll see a yellow, four-pointed star spinning in the bottom-left corner when the game is saving. You may also see a purple star spinning underneath it or on its own, indicating that the game is saving metadata, such as unlocked gallery animations. Visit the save data page for more information. ===== Sex scenes ===== ==== Escape meter ==== The Escape meter is a gauge that appears at the bottom center of your screen when an enemy grabs you, putting you into a **Mashout Hold**, as long as you don't have a full Lust meter. With it on screen, you may mash your **Attack** button repeatedly to try and squirm out of the enemy’s grasp. If successful, Joe stops the animation and pushes the enemies away, getting a bit of invincibility as well. However, your Lust Meter will rapidly increase while in the enemy’s grasp, and if it reaches 100%, you will be unable to squirm out of the animation and will be forced to watch it in its entirety, taking damage as it plays. ==== Rhythm meter ==== The Rhythm meter appears during sex scenes with NPCs, as well as in sex scenes with enemies that got you to a full Lust Meter after an unsuccessful **Mashout hold** on your part, or if you initiated the scene yourself. It’s a simple graphic of a circle travelling along a line that has a hollow circle near the end of it. If the player presses their **Attack** button while the full circle is inside the hollowed circle, the current sequence will be finished and the next one will begin playing, leading to a shorter runtime of the animation. Missing the beat will not punish the player in any way, the animation will just play for the time it was designated. ===== Pause screen ===== The Pause screen is a menu the player can access at any time with the **Pause** button, it completely stops the game and lets them get an overview of their stats as well as access submenus to view other information about their adventure. On the right side of the main pause screen, the player can get an overview of their current stats. These include: * Their current max and remaining Hit points. * Their current Lust percentage. * Their current max and remaining Skill points. * Their current max and remaining Overdrive (goes unused in Act 1). * #Strength stat. * #Defense stat. * #Charisma stat. * #Stamina stat. * #Libido stat. * #Lubricity stat. * Currently active buffs. The player can also see the stats in this section in the #Skills menu. Under that section, the player can also see the current savefile’s stats, such as their current location, how many climaxes they’ve achieved, their current Zenni, how many enemies they’ve KO’d and how much play time they have. ==== Skills ==== The Skills screen lets the player see their current skills and gives them a brief description on how to use them, the selection on this screen expands as the player finds items that unlock new skills. On the left side of the screen, the player can also review their stats, these are the same ones they can see on the main #Pause screen. If a skill was acquired later on through an item, this screen also allows the player to toggle their behavior in case they do not want it active. For example, after acquiring the Abacus, if the player does not want to see the damage numbers, they can disable them from this screen. ==== Inventory ==== The inventory screen displays a list of the player’s currently held items as well as a visual preview and a description of the currently selected item. This list can be navigated with the **movement** inputs to change items and pages. If an item has a usable effect, the player can activate it from this screen by selecting it and pressing their **confirmation** key, though in Act 1, this is only the case with the Lazurlite Mirror. ==== Map ==== The player can see a full-screen version of the #mini-map by selecting this option in the #pause screen or by pressing the **Open map** shortcut key. This screen allows them to see the entire map for any given location as well as pan it around to see it better. The map will be comprised of three types of squares: * Dark blue squares are uncharted areas that the player hasn’t been to. * Pink squares that indicate that the player has at one point been at that spot. * A blinking yellow square that indicates the player’s current position. ===== Player stats ===== The player controls Joe, a character that is very adept at platforming, fighting and //seducing// opponents, and just how effective he is at these actions is determined by his stats. He starts with low numbers but can increase these by gathering items throughout his quest, each affecting a certain stat that helps the player in different ways. Joe’s current value for any given stat can be reviewed in the #Pause menu or in its submenu #Skills where you may also check your abilities. ==== Health ==== Your Health points (HP) indicate how healthy Joe is feeling. He starts with a maximum of 150 HP and loses HP whenever he is hit, grappled (more if the animation finishes or if it's a 100% lust grapple), or drops into/triggers a hazard such as falling into water. When his HP hits 0, poor Joe will be left vulnerable to the fiendish whims of the horny enemies! This triggers a Game Over and you’ll need to restart the current stage from the entrance that took you into it. Health can be recovered with certain items such as medkits, Spring Water or the Loot gems that drop from enemies you top. Passing through a #Life Spring Aura can also recover your Health. There are also certain items that increase the amount of Health points you have or reduce the amount you lose from attacks. ==== Skill Points ==== Your Skill points (SP) represent how much energy you have to perform Special Attacks, you start with a max of 10 Skill points. As of Act 1, Joe can only perform the Crescent Moon special by pressing the designated **Special Attack** button. It consumes a portion of your SP and has Joe do a flip, attacking enemies all around him with his tail, great for crowd control and dealing heavy damage. The only way to recover SP is to get blue Loot gems, purchasing a bottle of Spring Water or Fruit Soda, or by passing through a #Life spring aura. If you don’t have enough SP, Joe will not perform the attack. ==== Lust ==== Lust is a value presented with a percentage representing how horny Joe is, this goes up as the enemies tease and grope him. Once the meter reaches 100%, Joe will be totally unable to move and he’ll succumb to his needs, he’ll drop his pants and will need to relieve himself then and there, the player has no control over him in this state other than using the #Rhythm meter to speed the process a little. The lust meter can go down with the use of certain items like the chillpill and the pink loot gems, the player may also decrease this value by having sex with enemies or NPCs, or by pleasuring themselves in a safe place with the use of cock ring. Note that being grappled into sex with an enemy not only makes the Lust bar go up, but it will also drain your HP for as long as their animation goes on, so it’s better to prefer items or NPCs to decrease this value. ==== Strength ==== The strength stat determines how powerful your damage-dealing attacks are, you deal higher damage as the value goes up. This affects both your normal attack and your Special attacks. ==== Defense ==== The defense stat determines how resistant you are to damage-dealing attacks from enemies, you receive less damage as the value goes up. This means you’ll lose less HP from direct blows from enemies, and also lose less of it while being //blown by enemies//. ==== Charisma ==== The charisma stat determines how seductive you are to enemies, you’ll deal more Arousal-damage as the value goes up. This affects the Pose Sexy attack as well as any other attacks that deal Arousal-damage like the butt stomp. ==== Stamina ==== The stamina stat determines how resistant you are to lust-dealing attacks from enemies, your Lust meter won’t increase as much as the value goes up. This means that enemy attacks won’t arouse you as much, and the gradual increase from being grappled won’t be as fast. ==== Libido ==== The libido stat determines how many rewards you’ll get after defeating an enemy with sex, having a higher chance for better rewards as the value goes up. This stat isn’t affected by any items in Act 1. ==== Lubricity ==== The lubricity stat determines how many button presses are needed to break out of an enemy’s mashout hold, less presses will be needed as the value goes up.
